total site rebuild

so i'm completely rebuilding my website, every page, including the blog so that it's easier to update, and i'm just not going to keep most of the older entries public. no one's reading them anyway and i don't want to spend all that time reformatting them. the wayback machine exists, i don't know how it works but i'm sure you can go back and read my old og posts from december 2025 if you really wanted to and i'm not going to stop you, i just don't think i need to keep them up. i've got them backed up locally so who cares?
i will admit that i think this layout has a little bit less spice than my first one, but it is more organized, easier to keep organized, and also easy to update. i don't have to go moving pages around every time a month clicks over. each blog post is a page now. hopefully that doesn't eat up too much of my space. but i can always start deleting them anyway. local backlog and all that.
if you were a bird zone fan, all... maybe one of you, you may notice that i currently don't have a gallery page and my shrines page is empty and i don't have a separate project log anymore. to start, i have a whole portfolio site now, yourstrangebird.com where you can peruse the pieces i like the most at the current moment or go through any of my socials on my links page. as for my shrines, while they should be pretty easy to redo they're still going to take some time to get reorganized and i want to launch the main pages already and not have to add that main nav link back into all my pages lol. and for the project log, i might add some of those back but just have them be pages in the same list as the blog. or perhaps a column if i actually start making more projects worth documenting.
in the future i might add back a page for my less professional drawings, maybe call it my sketchbook, but i haven't been drawing nearly enough for that lately. not sure if it would be a main nav link either, which would end up being a pain in the ass to add to every page but whatever, we'll get there when we get there. and i've considered adding a media log page of the new music, books, shows, and movies i've seen--if i can get over the idea of people possibly judging my shit tastes lol. i definitely should, cuz this is my website that i built and paid to support so i can post whatever cringe or cold takes i want. a page like that could just be a new column/list in the blog page. not too worried about the organization for that one.
