it's hard. I made a valiant effort at making a dropdown menu for month separation for these posts and technically succeeded... however you may see there is no drop down menu. well I didn't figure out how to get the links to load in the iframe and from my scant research as my eyes cross from being tired after work I most likely need to put some kind of script in here... somewhere. but I don't even kind of understand javascript especially when my brain is melting out of my ears after a long day of post christmas limbo week rush at work. so figuring that out is probably going to be a weekend problem when I have time and maybe an ounce more brain power.
gotta say, once I left school my method for teaching myself things has been wildly slapdash compared to the nice neat orderly way that an actual teacher would show me the way. probably cuz I'm not a teacher and figuring out what to prioritize isn't always obvious and sometimes you just wanna do the cool part Now and learn important things like basics later lol I'll get there. and this applies to every skill I've taught myself not just html/css style things. eventually my random whims will allow me to cover all the basics that a person could normally cover in a sensible order in a traditional course and I'll have a pretty, orderly, and well functioning website (hopefully).
if I did everything right then I should have a section of blog posts in an iframe. we will see. also made a big ol list of things I want to do to this page so lets see if I can make a list of them here.
and on the briefly mentioned topic of a craft log, I did finish the scarf I hastly decided that I needed to make for my secret santa gift that's due tomorrow. yes the final third is the wrong color, no the stripe pattern doesn't repeat correctly, no I don't care I think she'll like it either way cuz I made it myself. I wove in the ends and put it through the wash this afternoon and I did also forget to get a gift bag when I was at the grocery store this morning meaning I have to stop on my way to work BUT. it is done. it's ready to be given. it's made of more natural materials and is technically on time. I think she'll like it. she's a sweet girl and she deserves better than my back up gift of a fucking planner lol
well, I've completely reworked many aspects of what I first threw out at the internet because I thought oh, I can just open up the inspector on any website and teach myself how to do things based on pattern recognition alone... no. believe it or not if you don't know what things do you're gonna have a much harder time figuring shit out and making things fuctional or nice looking or streamline. there's free and good resources out there and I was like neh I don't need it I'm smart enough to figure it out through intuition alone. yeah sure bud. have fun erasing shit, refreshing the display to see what it broke, ctrl z it back cuz you fucked it up thoroughly, typing some out of order nonsense, erasing that, ad infinitum.
as you can see, most of this is still empty or boring looking. I do want to fill it out more but I unfortunately gave myself infinity tasks to finish before the end of the year like a genius. including knitting a full length scarf in about 20 days with not enough yarn of the right color and not enough time each day dedicated to the task. oh and a charity project that I constantly am running behind on lol.
